Module 1: Creating a Supportive Learning Community
Familiarizes students with learning strategies used throughout the
curriculum: think–pair–share exercises, Koosh Ball toss, adding-on and
thinking differently, active listening, and role plays
Provides opportunities to get to know one another and work collaboratively
as a group
Fosters trusting, supportive relationships among students and between
students and the School–Connect teacher
Provides practice in recognizing emotions, taking different perspectives,
empathizing with others, appreciating human diversity, avoiding the use of
labels and stereotypes, preventing bullying, and building rapport with teachers
Module 2: Developing Self-Awareness and Self-Management
Increases students’ awareness and control of their personal growth and
development
Explores the effects of automatic thoughts and attributional biases on behavior

Provides practice in setting goals, tracking progress, and managing multiple
priorities
Develops brain-compatible learning strategies for improving understanding
and retention of academic skills and content

Module 4: Resolving Conflicts and Making Decisions
Explores building and retaining friendships
Identifies different conflict styles and their potential effects
Introduces and applies a problem-solving strategy, step by step
Provides practice in specific social skills, including negotiating an agreement,
making responsible decisions, applying refusal and persuasion skills to risky
situations, apologizing for transgressions, and forgiving others
